Last minute jitters: Korea 3

Tomorrow's the big day.

My flight leaves at 1 PM tomorrow. From there it's a straight flight to Korea. Long, but straight.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared to death right now. I'm terrified. I keep asking myself why I thought this was a good idea. I know nothing about Korea other than they eat a lot of kimchi and everyone I've talked to loves it. I don't know anyone going on the trip. When I got the roster I scanned desperately for the name of someone I knew. I didn't recognize a single name.

I'm also excited. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. This is exactly what I've wanted to do, i.e. live & work in a foreign country. I know it's only an internship. But this is still a dream come true.

3 years ago I boarded a flight to Rome, Italy for 4.5 months. I didn't know a soul going on that trip. I made friends. Wonderful friends, actually. I had the best semester of my life. So I can make friends in Seoul just as easily as I did in Rome.

I'm taking an intro to Korean language and culture course when I first get there. I can learn about Korea. I have a guide book to read on the plane and a phrase book. Both have maps. The phrase book has a guide to public transportation as well.

I don't have much else to say. My poor brain is just tied in a knot. I'm exhausted. I'm going to sleep.

The next time you hear from me, I'll be in Seoul, South Korea!
