This is the remix

Lately I've found myself overwhelmed by the desire to shop. When you're living on a grad student budget, shopping every weekend is not realistic. I have to watch what I spend. So instead of shopping I decided to develop a deeper appreciation for what I already own. That's when I spotted a button on a fashion blog. The button stated that the author was a proud remixer and had taken the 30 for 30 remix.  The rules of the challenge are simple:

  1. Chose 30 items from your wardrobe
  2. Make 30 outfits with those 30 items
Sounds simple enough? Plus it would be the perfect way to become more satisfied with what I've already been blessed with. I'm still on the fence about whether or not I should post pictures of myself wearing each outfit. This is not a fashion blog after all.

Regardless there won't be any photos today. Why you ask?

I'm in the middle of doing laundry. Hey, if I'm going to pick out 30 items from my closet those items should be you know...clean. Even as many of my clothes hang on my drying rack I'm already trying to put together outfits in my mind. I'll have to be patient & wait for tomorrow when everything's dry. But being patient is sometimes just not that much fun.

In the process of brainstorming possible numerical combinations (10 items per category for 3 categories? 6 items per category for 5 categories? Some other combination?) I've asked the feathered ones for advice. Frack just screamed over me. Frieda just sat there blinking. Typical.

It would help if I could understand Frack. Despite years of (wasted) effort, neither of them can imitate a darn thing. Actually that's not true. Twice in her tiny feathered existence Frieda has perfectly copied the sound of the door chime at my parents' house, a skill that may come in handy should someone try and break in. Hey, they may think I have an alarm system installed. That is one presumption I will not try and rebut. And so I go to bed--to  watch Hulu and read the Hunger Games--too excited to keep my plans to myself.

I still haven't decided whether to post outfits or not.

  1. Glad to see you are not shopping... Great idea to remix your clothing! Hooray for you! Frack and Freeda live in a "special" world of their own... :-)
